Project AstroDERP
A downloadable game for Windows
Created for the first-ever National Game Development Month - and absent from the Internet since the NaGaDeMo repository went down - this homage to one of the most iconic of games for the original 16-bit console was painstakingly developed to capture the feel of the classic single-screen shmup while giving it all the advantages of modern hardware (except for audio) and modern game design: 60fps, dynamic speed adjustment and a score multiplier based on player skill, and a very silly story.
Though a fully-playable game, complete with ending, it is effectively only a prototype of a more robust design that, despite how much I'd love to see it finished someday, is on indefinite hiatus unless and until I can afford to work on it again. I just feel like it's been missing for too long, so if it interests you, here it is to download again (or for the first time!).

Install instructions
No installation necessary - just unzip and you're good to go. Keep the folder intact if you like, or not, the game doesn't care. The highscore table will use the Intellect font (included) if you care to install it, but it's otherwise completely unnecessary. Check out the provided ReadMe.txt file for more information if desired.
